The Science

The research behind H3.

No proprietary mysteries. No borrowed science. Every ingredient in H3 was selected because published research supports its role in hair health. Here is what the studies say, what they do not say, and why we chose what we chose.

Three forces that weaken hair. Regardless of gender.

Force 1

Hormonal Disruption (DHT)

DHT is converted from testosterone by 5-alpha-reductase. In genetically sensitive people, DHT causes follicle miniaturization. This affects roughly 50% of men and up to 40% of women by middle age.

Force 2

Oxidative Stress

Free radicals damage dermal papilla and hair matrix cells. This shortens the growth phase and pushes follicles prematurely into shedding. A follicle already weakened by DHT deteriorates faster under oxidative load.

Force 3

Inflammation & Nutrient Deficiency

Chronic low-grade inflammation around the follicle contributes to fibrosis that chokes blood supply. Combined with mineral deficiencies, growth signals weaken and shedding signals strengthen.

Ingredient deep-dive.

01

Endocannabinoid System

Kannopia-Active™

Water-Soluble Hemp Extract (300mg)

Hair follicles express cannabinoid type 1 (CB1) receptors. When CB1 is negatively modulated (by compounds like CBD), follicles remain in their growth phase longer and produce thicker, longer strands.

Clinical Evidence

A 2021 case series (35 adults): 93.5% average increase in non-vellus hair count after six months. No adverse events.

A 2023 follow-up (31 adults): 246% average increase in hair count over six months. All subjects reported satisfaction.

What the research does not show

These are case series, not randomized controlled trials. Sample sizes are small. The studies used topical application, not oral capsules. Larger trials are needed.

02

Oxidative Stress Defense

Astaxanthin

Natural Carotenoid Antioxidant

One of the most potent natural antioxidants measured, roughly 6,000 times the singlet oxygen quenching activity of vitamin C. Acts through antioxidant protection of follicle cells and natural inhibition of 5-alpha-reductase.

Clinical Evidence

A preliminary clinical trial (15 men, 12 weeks): 22.5% increase in terminal hair count. 84.6% patient satisfaction. No adverse events.

What the research does not show

The clinical trial was small and preliminary, combining oral and topical application. 5-AR inhibition data is from in vitro studies. Larger trials needed.

03

Growth-Factor Signaling

Boron

Essential Trace Mineral

Activates the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, one of the primary molecular mechanisms that triggers hair follicles to enter their growth phase. Upregulates VEGF for improved scalp blood supply.

Key Study

A 2022 study: sodium pentaborate pentahydrate induced the anagen phase through activation of Wnt-1, β-catenin, VEGF, and PDGF signaling pathways. Higher doses suppressed these pathways, underscoring why precise formulation matters.

What the research does not show

The hair growth study was conducted in rats, not humans. No human clinical trials have specifically tested boron for hair growth. Inclusion is based on mechanistic evidence and established safety profile.

Our Standards

Honesty is the strategy.

H3 is a dietary supplement. It is not a drug. It is not FDA-approved for the treatment of hair loss. The studies referenced on this page were not conducted on H3 specifically; they were conducted on the individual ingredients.

What we do claim: H3 contains three ingredients, each with published research supporting its role in hair health through a distinct biological pathway. Those ingredients are dosed at levels informed by the research. Every ingredient and dose is disclosed.
